Participate in a Study on Videogame Development Teams

Dr. Jane Salk, a visiting scholar from the MIT is currently conducting a study on project teams for animation and gaming products in Montreal.

Besides being a part of one of the few studies that look at innovation in the context of creative industries, benefits will include feedback, consultation and seminars that hopefully will produce practical insights for participating companies.  A second benefit concerns better understanding and augmenting the advantages arising from the Montreal Ecosystem.

While the geographic and cultural aspects, plus the dense array of different institutional actors has been cited as reasons why Montreal has become, and should continue to grow as a major Global Leader, how team members and leaders perceive that ecosystem and when and how external resources and knowledge are effectively captured is not known. Hence, this study should be of assistance to policy makers and other stakeholders to create awareness and perhaps specific programs to help strengthen the advantages for companies in Montreal.

Level of participation required

Two levels:

  • Pilot interviews with managers and team members to learn about your culture and business, plus discuss how best to select teams for study.
  • Identification of several teams in your organization at different stages of their projects.

The projects should be focused on a new product or significant innovation to an existing type of product, not an incremental upgrade.

All members of the team will be asked to complete a confidential and secure web-based questionnaire.

Dr. Salk will offer aggregated feedback on the findings and differences within and across organizations.

If you are interested and/or would like further information, please call Dr. Salk at 514 473-7973 or salkje@mit.edu
